You had to enjoy the story from last nights homerun derby. If you didn't know, this week is the "Mid-Summer Classic", or All-Star Week for baseball. It all kicks off with the Home Run Derby which has been getting as big of ratings as the actual All-Star Game. This Home Run Derby was different, it was almost mesmerizing. Not because Josh Hamilton stole the show with monsterous shots that sailed all over Yankee's stadium, but because of his story.
Whether you are a fan or not, you can appreciate what Josh Hamilton has gone through. I encourage you to research about this man. The former #1 overall pick in the Major League Baseball draft. He was a remarkable talent coming out of high school. Everyone thought he would be in the big leagues. Well, Josh took a detour. Long story short, he fell into drugs, bad. He fell into a pit of dispair and was awoken one night. He says it was God that has saved his life. After a 3 year absence from baseball he came back last year and had a great year. Then came this year being the man in Texas and finally getting his shot last night to really shine. In an era of baseball that is overshadowed by steroids and HGH, here is a man that me and my kids can look up to and be a role model. It took a savior for Josh Hamilton to snap out of his funk, now Josh Hamilton is the savior that will help baseball snap out of it's funk.
