  • As a leader, I think Sarah Palin is ...

It's somehow true that Sarah Palin retired as the governor of Alaska last summer to pursue a career in television. The thought of Sarah Palin joining FOX News…it makes me want to vomit.  None of the cable news networks are watchable, and this violates the 8th Amendment's provision against cruel and unusual punishment.  Hannity, Beck, Bill O (or Skeezix, if you will), Ingraham, Von Sustern…they're all intolerable.  I'd give payday loans to get that channel off the air.

  • Unemployment Rates by County

The U.S. unemployment rate jumped above 10.2 percent for the first time in 26 years. Factoring underemployment (looking for work but not finding it) in raises the overall rate to 27%.  This has led to demand for an unemployment benefits extension, which has recently been passed.  To buffer the shock of jobs lost, and the rising  unemployment rate, a rider was attached to the homebuyer tax credit bill which extends benefits for those that have lost their jobs.

  • One the way: Taylor Swift, Kiss

What can I say, tickets for Taylor Swift's concert is going on sale (Just amazing!) I'm sure more fans will have the chance to see her perform live. Tickets are going to go quick – so when tickets for her next tour go on sale, you're going to want to jump on it quickly. You also have to wonder if Kanye West is going to jump on stage and say how Beyonce had a better tour. (He may get away with it around Taylor Swift, but let's hope he's foolish enough to try it at a Slayer show sometime – that would make some people's day!) Granted, the incident probably helped her career, and it's definitely on the upswing – even with an online cash advance for Taylor Swift tickets, her concerts sell out in an hour.

  • TLC to Jon Gosselin: You're dead to us

We are all aware of Jon Gosselin's recent actions, and now he still continued his erratic behavior by trying to stop the production of Kate Plus 8. Jon Gosselin, likely angered at the possibility of losing his gravy train, delivered a cease and desist order to TLC, from axing him from Jon and Kate Plus 8. He doesn't want Kate Plus 8 to happen. Kate Gosselin – although she isn't Kate Gosselin anymore is she? – hasn't commented, but Jon is adamant that he thinks the filming of the show is bad for his children, and has gone so far as to post signs alerting camera crews to keep out. Oh well – it's not like Jon Gosselin needs debt survival tips, as the show has already made him a millionaire.

  • The OTHER speech Obama gave on Wednesday....

I think it is about time we got a stimulus package update – as the government has finally re-launched recovery.gov. The recovery.gov website was and is supposed to keep all of us informed about just what all of our stimulus dollars are doing, if anything. It sure doesn't look like much at this point, but the website promises to be far more interactive and user friendly. So far the Department of Health and Human Services has paid out the most money. The website does report projects and contracts paid out for, so we have some sort of knowledge that the taxpayer funded payday loans no faxing have gone somewhere other than to Wall Street, that is if the reporting of recovery.gov is accurate.

  • Do you think an economic comeback is near?

Many people who are cashing in on the government's clunkers program are surprised when they get to the treasurer's office windows and learn that the government's rebate of up to $4500 dollars for every clunker is taxable. The credit you get for trading in your old car doesn't count towards your 1040. Some members of Congress aren't amused – Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) has advocated a tax deduction instead of a payment – which is a dandy idea. (He also wants to get rid of the IRS, a GREAT idea!) So take heart – you won't need guaranteed loans for your tax bill if you participated in Cash for Clunkers.

  • Recession in Recession!

Many people are glad to know that the end of recession is in sight. The number of lay offs is slowing –  so even though it's bad news that anyone is being laid off period, the rock bottom in a recession is a better place to be, because that means up is going to be the new direction for the economy.  Also, many workers consigned to the unemployment line from manufacturing jobs are starting to get rehired, as firms such as Ford Motor Co, Dell, AK Steel, and OshKosh (the truck company, not the overalls company) are rehiring laid off workers.  An end to the recession would be good news, and more available capital for installment loans and investment will lead to more jobs.
