  • Reader panel: Plaza building debate

Part of what makes the Plaza such a draw is its beautiful architecture and cohesiveness with the surrounding area.  One building like this won't destroy that, however, what's to stop us from putting up another and another, and eventually losing the 'essence' of the plaza all together? I think the law firm should consider going back to the design drawing board and try to compliment the plaza instead of creating something that will stand out and look awkward compared to the beautiful 1920's buildings that are already there. Preserving Kansas City landmarks should be every KC resident’s concern.

  • Reader panel: A mosque near Ground Zero

I can see why this story is getting national press, but I don't think this is a Federal issue and I agree that the state government should be responsible for allowing or not allowing this building to be built.

  • Reader panel: Birthright citizenship

I don't believe that changing the law would change the fact that illegal immigrants will continue to come to the US and have children here - it would just mean more illegal immigrants.

  • Reader panel: 'To Kill a Mockingbird'

By far, my favorite classic is "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen.  I've probably read it five times.  I really enjoy all of the Jane Austen novels but this one is my favorite.  I guess deep down I'm just another romantic!

  • Reader panel: U.S. in Afghanistan

I can't say that I know anything about war strategy, but I would like to see the rest of the world step up to the plate and not continue to place the entire burden on the US.  If we could get some support, then we wouldn't feel like we were in such a "no-win" situation with deadlines and withdrawing our troops only to leave potential chaos behind.  Almost every argument is valid on whether to stay or go home, but I can't help but feel sympathy for the families of our military men and women that are suffering without their loved ones close and safe at home.

  • Reader Panel: Cell phone monitoring

I think that many people expect that if their phone (or any other property) is issued by their employer, it is open for inspection at any time.  Employers have been monitoring emails for ages and I think the cell phone is the same type of company property.  As a business owner, I don't issue cell phones to my staff, however, I've considered my options and I believe that I would probably just issue a cell phone allowance, that way the employee could retain their property and their privacy.

  • Reader Panel: Are you boycotting BP gas stations?

I have not gone out of my way to boycott any BP Stations, and I don't think I will.  Clearly the company hasn't handled the situation very well, but neither has our government.  I think everyone involved could step up their game on this one...

  • Reader Panel: Future of the Big 12

I can't see them taking this big step backwards - the history of the Big 12 should help keep it together.

  • e-readers vs paper: How do you like to read?

    On paper and electronically.

I love to read, so I am hoping that Santa brings me a Kindle this year (mom if you are reading this, let him know for me!)

I have traditionally read paperback books and magazines but I am really looking forward to using the electronic reader instead. I

know I'll enjoy the freedom of not having to pack multiple books when I go on trips and having all of those magazines and newspapers at my fingertips at all times.

  • What do you think of Tiger Woods' recent marital issues?

It's none of my business. These public floggings of celebrities violate the most basic rules of privacy. Leave the guy alone.
