  • e-readers vs paper: How do you like to read?

    On paper and electronically.

I haven't actually used a Kindle or anything like that, but I like the idea of them.

I read a lot, especially when I travel. If I could just pack one device with all the books on it that I want, that would help so much!

I think I will always enjoy curling up with a good book and something to drink, but devices like the Kindle definitely have their uses.

  • Are you getting an H1N1 vaccine?

Nope. I don't think I will mess with it. The swine flu is really no more dangerous than the regular seasonal flu, it just affects different people.

Besides, it takes a while for the vaccine to produce immunity in a person, and at this point there isn't a whole lot of flu season left.

  • What do you think of Tiger Woods' recent marital issues?

If you make your money as a public person, you should expect scrutiny when you screw up.

You should expect some scrutiny. But that doesn't make it right. Personally, I don't care about his marital issues one bit. They don't effect me or my life.

I do, on the other hand, have a problem with how we as a society blow everything up.

Now what should be between a man and his wife is between a man and the nation. That's just dumb. And how many of the people hating on Tiger Woods right now are guilty of doing the exact same thing?

  • How much are you spending on holiday gifts?

Don't know yet, but definitely cutting back.

I'm cutting back on gifts because I'm really only buying for my wife and my dog.

But I am spending more on travel to go down to San Antonio for my mom and dad's 30th anniversary.

They are renewing their vows and all their kids are traveling down to be there with them.

With that, I might end up spending about the same overall.

But come on, the chance to get together with my family and celebrate 30 years of marriage is totally worth it!

  • As a leader, I think Sarah Palin is ...

    ... a joke.

She still has no experience. Quitting during your first large political appointment and writing a book doesn't somehow give you all kinds of wisdom and ability.

If doing a book tour was what we wanted in a president, I'm sure we could find someone better qualified.

I won't say that she can't make a good president, but I will say that she can't right now. And without a lot of work, I honestly don't think she ever will.

  • Would you give up meat to help the planet?

No. I'm sorry, and I know I might sound like a jerk, but I like to eat meat. I'm not giving it up.

I might be willing to do my part as a consumer to help the industry be greener (though I don't know what that might be), but I won't give it up.

I recycle, I drive a small car, I keep the temperature in my house down in the winter and up in the summer, I hang clothes out on the line when I can, etc. But I am going to keep eating meat.

  • Should Larry Johnson have been suspended?

Who cares? The Chiefs suck with or without him.

I think the man should be more careful about what he says, especially given his obviously public profile.

And I think the Chiefs probably should punish him in some way. But this seems a little out of hand.

That said, the most disturbing thing about this to me is that the Chiefs pay one player $660,000 in two weeks.

They've won how many games this year? How many last year? Why is it that I work so hard and get paid so little then?

  • How have you made sacrifices at work?

I am salaried, so I didn't really take a pay cut. My check every two weeks is still the same.

But my work week has been increased by five hours a week, so I do more for the same amount of money now. Still, it beats being unemployed.

  • Does Obama deserve the Nobel Peace Prize?

Eh. I'm not gonna say that he doesn't deserve it. But I will side with him and say that perhaps he hasn't quite done enough to have earned it yet.

  • Rio or Chicago? Who should have the Olympics?

Rio. Come on, how can the IOC be expected to ignore an entire continent any longer? Besides, Chicago has huge amounts of debt. The last two Olympics in the States have had some high profile issues (bombings and bribery and the like). And sure, the President made an appearance. But so did the heads of state of every other country vying for the Games. In fact, heads of state have made this a trend for a while, and this is the first time a U.S. president has done it. To make it worse, he let it be known that he was just flying in and out the same day, that he wasn't giving the IOC a whole lot of time. Other countries did a lot more to curry favor. We just kinda stopped in for a few hours, during which we did other stuff, not even giving the IOC our full attention. Don't get me wrong, I think Obama needed to be doing other stuff and that he did not need to be spending a bunch of time there (he's kinda got a lot on his plate back home after all!). But I definitely think that the right city got the Games.
