If you're underwhelmed by the dog days of summer's lackluster music releases, look toward fall where we'll be getting new albums from Kings of Leon, Calexico, Connor Oberst, Of Montreal, Deerhoof and Lambchop. As well as another bootleg session from Bob Dylan.
And while that's a long wait, at least two of the bands mentioned above are offering free mp3s on their Web sites. Head over to KingsofLeon.com to download "Crawl," a moody, slow song with a thick bassline and feedback to spare. Also, over at bobdylan.com you can grab "Dreamin' of You" a decent unreleased cut from his Time Out of Mind sessions.
Both songs require your email address, but that's a small concession to make. Afterall, you can always just block any future emails.
