Notsomuch meaning expensive...that would be up to you and your means. I mean, if you're going out for the evening to a "nice" place (not a dive bar) then leave the everyday look behind and put some effort into dolling yourself up for the occasion...both men and women. That means no jersey wear, no jammies, no tee shirts (of any kind,) no sweats, and no tennies! And here's a stretch...put the damn jeans back in the drawer (or at least the everyday bluejean baby queen kind) and choose some nice slacks/shorts or...dare I say it...DRESSES or SKIRTS to go along with the much fussed about shoes and peticures, purses and the like. Guys...find dress jeans or slacks and something that at least buttons part way down to go with DRESS SHOES.

You would think for all the ribbing we still get in the midwest for being a "hick town" that we would be more conscious of an effort to take it up a notch when going out for the evening...especially to a club! The new Power n Light is a "bit" more casual, but deserves still a dressed up atmosphere...and wow do I see ALOT of effort there in that reguard, yesssss! Westport and the like...'eh! Unfortunately people show up there in jammies n slippers, do-rags, "make a statement" teeshirts, and that "I just rolled outa bed" look. Noooo thank you. You can have it. Just think of it as not the crap to wear to a night-out-on-the-town place. There actually ARE places n times to dress up and show some class.Think

I'm with you on this one Paulie; we have had our differences but I always have believed in looking nice when going out. Yes it depends on the particular bar but for the most part I want to look descent and not like I'm headed to a drag race. Back to the dress code I agree once again not with the unfairness of the dress code but if you know good and well that you should not wear something then don’t wear it; or just go some where that will allow you to wear what you want.

maybe i dont hang out at those kind of bars but im in blue jeans or cargo shorts (depends on the weather) 99% of the time.
And I have a collection of over 100 black t-shirts, mostly from local bands.
I wear them because they are comfortable and i like 'em.
I have 1 pair of dress pants and 1 suit. They are nice on rare occasion but are overall extremely uncomfortable and i cant relax.

I say, if you like it and you are happy then screw what everyone else thinks. Its their problem if they dont like it.

I am of course speaking about the men only!
Ladies, you should NEVER leave the house without making sure you arev looking your best first! Laughing

Exactly what club or bar do you own that this is the dress code for?
Shouldn't you want people to keep dressing sloppy to go out? If everyone dresses up when they're going to da club, then you won't stand out as much. You won't look as nice by comparison.

Really? Try getting into any club in the city wearing crap for clothes. Like VooDoo Lounge, Blonde, NV, Seven, One 80, etc... Wearing dumpy duds is fine for scroungin...but not loungin - club styleSmile

exactly the reason i have never stepped foot in any of those places.
People should be judged by actions, not clothing!!!
Not allowing someone in a club based on what they are wearing is as shallow as they come.
However, i do realize that these are the kinds of places most people like and I dont blame the club owners for catering to that.

Different strokes....

Really? Well VooDoo better let me in next week in my jeans/tshirt look because I'll be there for Motorhead! That's my look...I might be wearing a hat...that'll be dressed up for me! I'm with SLIMM...I don't mind dressing up once in a while if I feel the occasion calls for it but I can't get comfortable. Screw that! I wear what I wear and I'm ok with that b/c I know who I am.
