I know it's not October yet, but I'm already thinking about Halloween.

I'm looking for suggestions on scary movies to watch over the next few weeks... so post your advice here.

My personal faves are "Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare" (just for yuks), "The Shining" (a classic, of course) and, well, "Ghostbusters," which I have seen more times than any other movie. Oh, and I hear they're writing a Ghostbusters 3, and that there's a chance the original cast will star. I can't really imagine Harold Ramis lugging around a proton pack. Bill Murray, maybe. Ernie Hudson, definitely. But I digress...

Exorcist is still the scariest for me. I love the old thrillers, the bad seed, birds etc... but I am partial to pumpkinhead. I'm disappointed there isn't anything to look forward to this Halloween season. Some good Halloween movies that aren't that scary are Monster Squad, The Halloween Tree (based on a Ray Bradbury story), and Spaced Invaders (not to be confused with Space Invaders).

Also, check out Zombie Bloodbath. A local film done in the early 90's. I played a kid name Brandon in it. Good times.

Though obvious, Halloween is a good choice. The original is good, but the Rob Zombie remake is just as good and worth checking out. It focuses more on Michael Meyers' childhood. I recently saw the most disturbing movie ever, Cannibal Holocaust. It is known for having the most realistic violence ever in a movie. The director was actually taken to court on charges of murdering his actors, and it inspired the style for the Blair Witch Project (which may be good or bad).

And Rock n Roll Nightmare is a hilarious movie. Good call.

If I remember correctly, Psycho was somewhat scary.

You were in a movie called "Zombie Bloodbath?!!" Wow. That's pretty cool.

These are some good suggestions. I'm kind of scared to see "Cannibal Holocaust," though. I'll have to work up some courage before I add that to my queue. Oh, and speaking of scary movies that are just plain bad: Troll 2 and Shrooms are top of the heap, in my opinion.

Here are some good classics:

Psycho
Seven
Poltergeist
Nightmare on Elm Street (the original only!!)
Hellraiser
Jason (the first 3 maybe)
Shawn of the Dead (I realize it's not a classic but it's funny and scary which made for a very UNIQUE viewing experience)

AND the #1, must see, scary movie THE THING!!!

Just my 2 cents! I love Halloween and I love scary movies, even though my wife hates them. Ink should have a scary movie night or something!!

I thought Psycho was good, though I already new the twist (as many people do) before I saw it. But it's Hitchcock, so it's good.

And you can't go wrong with the classics like Dracula, Frankenstein or the Mummy. When I was young I loved the Wolf Man.

For me, Halloween is the greatest holiday of the year. I love the costumes, the horror flicks, and most of all, the decorations.
My front yard looks like Clark Griswolds at christmas time. No joke.
Ever since ive started decorating the yard, we have gradually gone from about 50 trick or treaters to over 200. Ya, we counted!
I will have pics posted this year and i'll let everyone see just how nuts i am over this. its insane.

ok, movies,
I created a top 10 horror flicks list a few weeks ago. ya'll should check it out.
i dig the slasher films personally and Friday the 13th is still my favorite. i dig the entire series and they each kick ass in their own way but the first one is the only one i would call "scary". That last scene on the lake gets me every time even though i know whats coming.
The new Rob Zombie movies do kick ass. other than that, most new stuff is shit.
If you like comedy horror then check out anything with the "troma" label on it. Tromeo and Julliette is AWESOME! Also look up Frankenhooker some time too.

I must stop now. I could go on and on forever on this! Embarassed
