Hey frinksters,

We want to know your answers to the following question, "Who is your favorite artist or what's your favorite piece of art?"

We've already given our answers, but we like to know what's on the minds of the people who read us, so please let us know. And if you want to post a picture or a link, by all means, do.

Gil Elvgren. Elvgren was one of the most important pin-up and glamour artists of the twentieth century.

Dali would have to be a favorite but i dont think i can pick a favorite Dali painting. they are all so amazing.
Soft Construction with Boiled Beans (Premonition of Civil War) would be a good pick though.

My favorite newly discovered artist is Leandro M Velasco.

My favorite work of art is "Flaming June," which I saw at a Victorian painting exhibit called "The Victorians: British Painting In The Reign of Queen Victoria, 1837-1901" in 1997 at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

SADDEST. THING. EVER: According to Wiki, Flaming June was up for auction in the 1960s and failed to sell for the reserve price of $140!!! I totally could have bought that...

I had a poster of it from the exhibit (which was in 1997), which got ruined when I moved here. Does anyone know how to get old exhibit posters? I'd sure love to have another one...

James Christensen - Bassoonist

I have a limited edition of this print and I wake up every morning to it and smile. An art dealer on the plaza ten or so years ago used to carry several pieces of his work and at the time it really reflected my fantastical views on the world. My feelings haven't changed. Take a "normal" bassoon player and look at him/her through my eyes... this is what you see. I remember revisiting his works while studying art history and was still impressed as to how his work really kept my imagination going. Embrace whatever moves you.Image
