it could be just a passing jolt of optimism on my part, but does there seem to a sense of excitement running through kc right now? especially the music scene?
i've done my fair share of bitching about local music, but for some reason i can't help this feeling that the scene is starting to shake the cobwebs off their amplifiers.
love him or hate him, david cook turned the nation's eyes to kansas city. around the same time, the tigers were on letterman and released keep color, a fantastic record that really is turning heads nationally. ssion is doing god knows what... and doing it well.
just yesterday, a friend of mine showed me a recent issue of alternative press magazine mentioning three kc groups. an article written by one of the architects, a blurb about josephine collective's latest, and an article on the tigers...
basically, i'm excited again for the potential of kansas city music. it's like seeing a shaft of light in a cave in...
i suppose this means i'm officially announcing my hypocrisy.
