The majority of candles are made from paraffin wax. Most of us have at least a couple sitting around the house, if not 20 or 30. But, what do you do with the leftover wax once the wick has burned down? Throw it away, right?

How about saving the candle scraps and making NEW candles? Did you really like that Blackberry Sage Tea candle but can't find it again? Make another candle and get the fragrance all over again. Or, save enough scraps, buy some fragrance and start creating new scents.

I've done this for years, and it works fabulously. Cost me just a few dollars to get a mold, some wicks, and I'm in business.

That is a great idea.

Here's another one for cat owners. If you have cats, you know you must clean the litter box every day to keep them healthy and happy. Not to mention, everyone knows the terrible stench of cat urine. Bleh!

If you have flower gardens, or even a compost area, cat litter is a FABULOUS fertilizer.

You will hear mixed reviews on this because of parasites, etc. But, animals make waste in gardens all the time, so I don't see the difference. I would say, I probably wouldn't use it in a veggie garden.

Have you tried the cat litter-thing? I would think the ammonia in the urine wouldn't be good for the plants and am not sure what the clay litter would be good for. Cat poop would probably be good in the garden, though.

Speaking of compost...my wife and I are looking at getting one of these:

Nature Mill

Anyone else have one? Anyone else want one? If you get 3 more more to buy within the same time period you can save 15%.

Thoughts?

I don't have one of those, but I have seen them before and thought about it. It looks awesome.

If you combine clay with a lot of organic matter, it can be a highly productive garden. And typically, in aerated spaces, the ammonia isn't that much of a problem.
