Between making a playlist for my sister’s wedding reception and baking a few hundred cupcakes, I created a cute and personal cake topper.
Ditch the plastic bride and groom for this charming handmade alternative. A package of wooden figures costs only a couple of bucks at craft stores. Plus, you don’t need to be a Picasso to pull off this paint job.

Materials
wooden figures
acrylic paint
glue (optional)
wooden or plastic base (optional)
1. Use a fine-pointed brush to paint on a red smile and two rosy cheeks. Add a pair of black dots for eyes.
2. Carefully paint on hair and outfits. Add as much detail as you want, but don’t go overboard. The simpler, the better.
3. Once dry, you can arrange and glue the figurines on a wooden or plastic base.
