Wedding date: Sept. 12
Altar alternative: The Turners were married at Willoughby Design Barn, an idyllic farmhouse rooted in Weston’s breathtaking pastures.
The copper-sheathed structure, designed by Kansas City firm El Dorado Inc., harbors a warm interior of wood-paneled walls and floors.
Location inspiration: “Barry grew up in the country, and I grew up in the city,” Nicole Turner said. “Willoughby was the absolute perfect venue for us. It had country charm with a bit of trendy, city flair.”
The rite stuff: The couple incorporated romantic touches like acoustic guitar music, Japanese lanterns and bonfire-roasted marshmallows. For rustic appeal, they served lemonade and sugar cookies and tucked blooms into Mason jars for centerpieces.
“Our guests described it as the perfect mix of both of us,” Nicole Turner said.
The only hitch: Guests gathered at a hotel and were chauffeured to the remote venue in an old school bus. “The bus took them through all of the winding roads and finally opened up to the barn,” she said.
