Whoa, people in Columbus Park are some serious fireworks freaks.

For hours, I've watched big fireworks shoot up from all over the neighborhood.

They look like mini-versions of the fireworks I saw at RiverFest tonight. Can't see how they're legal, but sure fun to watch.

Even cars going to and from North KC are pulling over on the bridge to catch the show.

Weirdest thing I saw today: About 8 cars snaked through River Market and pulled into the fire station's parking lot. A bunch of adults and kids got out. Someone went to see if the firemen were home (they weren't - both trucks were gone).

They spent about 15 minutes lighting up an arsenal of fireworks.

Then they got back in their cars and filed out of the neighborhood.

Very odd.

Anyone do anything exciting today? My parents are in town, so we're going to BBQ and shop it up tomorrow, and check out the Tomato Festival in City Market.

We ain't scared of no salmonella!

Ooooh, you brave, Laurie. You brave.
I went to Benton’s, where the city view was rocking the bling-bling of sparkling bursts. But I was almost too mesmerized by my (oddly amazing) combo of raspberry martini and lobster gnocchi to fully appreciate the surrounding fusions of Kansas City jazz and American art history. ~Random posting alert: my "wind" clashes with your character space; I love myself, but am not ready to see almost four of my pics stacked together on your profile page; and the page doesn't allow for other messages.~ I can’t believe it; you are making me question my sweetness for the semicolon. You know, they say there are Frenchmen who will take to the streets in defense of its elegance. (They will always have Paris; we’ll have emoticons). Alas, the overuse, misuse, and modern demand for Morse-like simplification compresses pleasurable writing texture to text messages. Nevertheless, Ink is bringing a higher level of thought to the weekly freebie – with or without big ol’ turtle heads! Keep balancing the class with the sass. It works. Never forget: snarky can also be smart. I’ll keep you posted when I finalize a trash-talking date, which means I really need to get off INK and get back to work. (I’ll be graduating from NWMSU this December).
