Work Functions (1)
8 qualities of top entrepreneurs. Yeah only 8. I recently sat through a motivational speech from the original apprentice: Bill Rancic. He had some great points but what I really walked away with was the 4 traits successful people all seem to have.
I took a few extra steps than he did and pulled a few extra traits from positive psychology theory and slapped the two lists together to form an unholy union. Here is the brainchild in no particular order:
1.Creativity: Often discounted by people first starting down the work path but creativity it is vital. Seeing a need, or a gap somewhere, is often the first step in being an entrepreneur.
2.Work your tail off: This is the second step many people miss out on. Work hard but also:
3.Work smarter: find a creative way to accomplish you goals. Don’t stick you nose to the grindstone (PIC) find another way to grind.
4.Good decision makers: Action speaks with more force than words, and is quantifiable. Anyone can speak about what they are going to do but people that actually follow through make it.
5.Never back down, never surrender: Tenacity and intestinal fortitude is crucial.
6.Hire experts: Find people that know what the heck they are doing and use them to accomplish one part of your project. Managing talent is often much more lucrative than cultivating talent. Often easier too.
7.Keep score and be flexible: Track business or product (you are the product by the way) success ongoing, and when I say ongoing I mean minute by minute at times. Be able and ready to change methods as the need for it arises.
8.Bounce back: Resiliency is an undervalued skill by many people. The boxer that gets off the mat quicker after being knocked down is usually the one that wins. If not that fight then the next one. Be that guy.
