Elders Hoolie 2013

Snake Saturday Parade and Festival
It’s “Irish Roots and Cowboy Boots” for this year’s Snake Saturday Parade. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, near the intersection of Armour Road and Fayette in North Kansas City.
Brookside St. Patrick’s Day Warm-Up Parade
Historic Brookside hosts its 33rd annual parade through the area’s quaint neighborhoods. The theme for this year’s parade is “Lucky 13.” The parade is free. 2 p.m. Saturday, begins at 65th and Wornall.
Power & Light District
Things start early, when McFadden’s Sports Saloon and the Dubliner open their doors at 7 a.m. for beer and breakfast. There are contests, games and specials on green beer and shots beginning at 11 a.m. There’s live music starting at 1 p.m. from Patrick Woolam and the Transients, the Patrick Lentz Band, Dolewite and DJ Pauly D on the KC Live! stage. Admission to the Live! block is free. 7 a.m. Sunday, KC Live! block and various Power & Light District bars
Browne’s Irish Marketplace
Kick off the day with an Irish breakfast from the restaurant. There’s an outdoor tent with music throughout the day, plus a children’s area. 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Browne’s Irish Marketplace, 3300 Pennsylvania.
Westport Alley Party
Ernie Biggs Dueling Piano Bar, Buzzard Beach, Dark Horse Tavern, Harry’s Bar and Tables and Gambal’s Social Club combine to create a St. Patrick’s Day beer garden. There’s live music from noon to 10 p.m., and the event benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City. 10 a.m. Sunday, Westport, 510 Westport Road
Kelly’s Westport Inn
There’s a $5 cash cover charge, with proceeds going to Welcome House.

Tanner’s (Waldo)
Drink and food specials throughout the day — including corned beef and cabbage, Reuben sandwiches and Irish nachos. There are two DJs throughout the day, and the restaurant will be giving away a trip to Cancun, as well. 10 a.m. to 3 a.m. Sunday, 7425 Broadway .
Kansas City St. Patrick’s Day Parade
The city’s most notable St. Patrick’s Day parade celebrates its 41st year. This year’s theme is “Gathering of the Clans — An Irish Homecoming,” and the Rev. Patrick Tobin serves as the grand marshal. The parade is free to attend. 11 a.m. Sunday, Broadway from Linwood to 43rd Street.
Charlie Hooper’s
The popular Brookside bar serves its corned beef and cabbage and will have drink specials throughout the day. There will also be bagpipers. No cover. 11 a.m. Sunday, 12 W. 63rd St.
Gusto Lounge
The patio will be open, and there will be DJs and green jello shots to celebrate the occasion. Sunday, 504 Westport Road.
Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Lawrence’s annual parade has been running since 1988. 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Massachusetts Street near South Park.
