Westport St. Patrick’s Day Run
When: 9:55 a.m. Saturday
What: A Westport tradition, this year’s race will be held the weekend before St. Patrick’s Day. You can compete as part of a team or a “centipede team” (three or more attached runners), in addition to individually. The race starts and ends near the intersection of Westport Road and Pennsylvania Avenue. Costumes are highly encouraged. Registration is $30 through Thursday and $35 through race day. The race benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City.
Fake Patty’s Caravan Crawl
When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday
Where: Eleven locations throughout Brookside/Waldo
What: Registration includes access to 11 bars in the Brookside/Waldo area, three drink tickets and access to drink specials and transportation. Bars include Brooksider, Charlie Hooper’s and the Well. Registration is $60.
When: 11 a.m. Sunday
Where: 135th Street near Holmes in Martin City
What: The day is packed with events surrounding the 26th annual Martin City St. Patrick’s Day Parade. There’s an event tent with a DJ, a best dressed dog contest and a 5K run in the hours leading up to the 2 p.m. parade. Parade winners will be announced at 4 p.m. at the event tent.
“Lawyers, Lawmen and Outlaws”
When: 2 p.m. Sunday
Where: Kansas City Central Library, 14 W. 10th St.
What: Local author Pat O’Neill, who wrote “From the Bottom Up: The Story of the Irish in Kansas City,” discusses the Irish legacy. The event is free.
Elders Hoolie 2013

Where: Uptown Theater
What: The 11th annual event features dancing, as well as music from the Elders. General admission tickets are $25.
Snake Saturday Parade and Festival
When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 16
Where: Near the intersection of Armour Road and Fayette in North Kansas City
What: It’s “Irish Roots and Cowboy Boots” for this year’s Snake Saturday Parade.
Brookside St. Patrick’s Day Warm-Up Parade
When: 2 p.m. March 16
Where: Begins at 65th and Wornall
What: Historic Brookside hosts its 33rd annual parade through the area’s quaint neighborhoods. The theme for this year’s parade is “Lucky 13.” The parade is free.
Power & Light District
When: 7 a.m. March 17
Where: KC Live! Block and various Power & Light District bars
What: Things start early, when McFadden’s Sports Saloon and the Dubliner open their doors at 7 a.m. for beer and breakfast. There are contests, games and specials on green beer and shots beginning at 11 a.m. There’s live music starting at 1 p.m. from Patrick Woolam and the Transients, the Patrick Lentz Band, Dolewite and DJ Pauly D on the KC Live! stage. Admission to the Live! Block is free.
Browne’s Irish Marketplace
When: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 17
Where: Browne’s Irish Marketplace, 3300 Pennsylvania
What: Kick off the day with an Irish breakfast from the restaurant. There’s an outdoor tent with music throughout the day, plus a children’s area.
Westport Alley Party
When: 10 a.m. March 17
Where: 510 Westport Road
What: Ernie Biggs Dueling Piano Bar, Buzzard Beach, Dark Horse Tavern, Harry’s Bar and Tables and Gambal’s Social Club combine to create a St. Patrick’s Day beer garden. There’s live music from noon to 10 p.m., and the event benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City.
Kelly’s Westport Inn

What: There’s a $5 cash cover charge, with proceeds going to Welcome House.

What: Drink and food specials throughout the day — including corned beef and cabbage, Reuben sandwiches and Irish nachos. There are two DJs throughout the day, and the restaurant will be giving away a trip to Cancun, as well.
Kansas City St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Where: Broadway from Linwood to 43rd Street
What: The city’s most notable St. Patrick’s Day parade celebrates its 41st year. This year’s theme is “Gathering of the Clans — An Irish Homecoming,” and the Rev. Patrick Tobin serves as the grand marshal. The parade is free to attend.

What: The popular Brookside bar serves its corned beef and cabbage and will have drink specials throughout the day. There will also be bagpipers. No cover.
Lawrence St. Patrick’s Day Parade

What: Lawrence’s annual parade has been running since 1988.
