Well at least one team in this town knows how to win some games. Sporting KC recently wrapped up an 18-7-9 regular season and solidified the No. 1 seed in the MLS’s Eastern Conference playoffs, which begin this week. Following a round-one bye, Peter Vermes’ team opens a two-game Eastern Conference semifinal matchup Sunday at 2:30 on the road — they’ll play the winner of the first-round matchup between the fourth-seeded Chicago Fire and the fifth-seeded Houston Dynamo — before returning to Kansas City for an 8 p.m. return leg next Wednesday at Livestrong Sporting Park. Tickets to next Wednesday’s match are $25-$225 at sportingkc.com.

Screenland Slams ‘Tremors’
If you’ve forgotten how Screenland’s popular “slams” work, here’s a quick refresher: Three comedians out of a stable of five — Tom Lancaster, Daisy Bucket, Adam Hoelscher, Caroline Knecht and Kenzie West — devote a couple of hours to humorously picking apart a less-than-stellar work of American cinematography. This weekend’s unfortunate target is the 1990 Kevin Bacon film “Tremors.” To add to your viewing pleasure, there’s a full bar on site. The slam begins at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance at screenlandslams.com or $12 at the door.
