Blogger wants to hear KC opinions on dating

Ink opinion

What do you think is unique about dating in your city?”

That’s what blogger Veralyn Williams wants to find out from people next week.

The New Yorker picked KC as one of three spots (She’s also going to Minnesota and Louisiana) to visit this year to learn a little bit about dating in the flyover states.

Well, she didn’t put it that way, but the blogger for bedsider.org. wants to hear from voices beyond just the East Coast and West Coast.

I think there are a lot of stereotypes about Kansas and the Midwest in general so I’d like to just try everything and experience the city,” she said.

I asked her what she had heard about KC.

Until I started researching, the only thing I knew about Kansas was ‘The Wizard of Oz,’ that’s where Dorothy was,” said Williams, 26.

Ouch. We gotta improve our rep, KC. (That would have been the perfect opportunity for me to explain the whole “This is Missouri” thing, but I forgot.)

She said she found out that KC has lots to offer as far as things to do.

But she said she wants to hear from the people — where are the best places, best date spots (your thoughts, Ink readers?) and even favorite make-out places?

Of course, she’ll hit a barbecue joint while she’s in town. But she’s also going to visit Westport, the Plaza and Celebration at the Station.

She said she listens to opinions and shares what she’s learned through her blogs and video blogs.

I don’t claim to be a dating expert at all.”

Well, that makes two of us.

So if you’re out between now and next Wednesday and someone approaches you with a camera, you’ll know the deal. Tell her how great KC is. The dating scene is not perfect we all know, but from what I hear, New York’s isn’t all it’s cracked up to be either. So there’s one positive right there.
