Favorite theater : “The Living Room, over near McGee and 18th, puts on everything from improv comedy to experimental theater. There are couches and armchairs set up around the stage, so sitting in the audience is comfortable. It makes the experience feel more intimate. It’s just a great place to see shows you normally wouldn’t see anywhere else.”

Food cart : “When I’m done with a night of dancing in Westport, on a Friday or Saturday night, I have to stop at the Jerusalem Cafe truck. A plate of hummus and falafel is the perfect light snack after midnight, rather than eating a huge meal. The food cart is open until the bars close and it’s super cheap.”

Bar : “I think Flying Saucer (101 E. 13th St.) might have the biggest beer selection in Kansas City. You can find anything from the Netherlands to small American breweries there. It doesn’t get obnoxiously loud. It’s a good place to sit and chat with friends, while enjoying a couple drinks.”

Barber shop : “Harvey’s Barber Shop in Liberty has changed my life. I never had a haircut I liked before I started going there three years ago. The couple who owns it can do any haircut you want. … They are also very friendly. The barber shop has an authentic retro vibe, because it’s been there for 50-some years. Any guy north of the river should go there.”
