Favorite tattoo parlor: “When I got my tattoo in February, I specifically went to the artist Jessie Hopeless at Whispering Dan’s Exile Tattoo in Westport. I saw her artwork online, and it was amazing. She was very patient, and it was important to her that my tattoo came out just the way I wanted it. The entire place has a very comforting atmosphere — it’s not intimidating at all.”

Favorite fashion boutique: “I love Retro Vixen, which is over on 39th Street. The décor is girly, but in an edgy way, and it reminds me of old Hollywood glamour. The place sells a lot of retro styles and retro fits. There are full skirts and high-wasted shorts. I like retro clothes because they offer more coverage, which is nice for work.”

Favorite antique store: “One of my favorite places to shop is Good JuJu in the West Bottoms. It has antique furniture and funky junk — everything from a retro-style chair made out of cardboard tubes to baby doll heads to a cross-stitch of the Kansas City skyline. It’s only open on First Friday weekends, and they’re constantly putting out new stuff.”

Favorite vet: “Great Plains SPCA is primarily a no-kill shelter, but it also offers low-cost vet services. I got my calico cat, Millie, last year and the vets are so sweet to her. They genuinely seem to care. You’re not just another appointment to them.”
