Cathy Brusk

City : Olathe

Age : 28

Occupation : Part-time nanny and stay-at-home mom

Favorite restaurant : “I’ve been going to Mom’s Kitchen in downtown Olathe since I was a little girl. They have the best breakfast food and coffee. It has old-school decor, like a 1950s diner. The prices are very reasonable. They have a lot of loyal regulars.”

Mom hangout : “Gymboree Play & Music over on 127th and Mur-Len has classes which expose infants to new things and helps with socialization. It’s the perfect way for moms to get out of the house. It is also a great place to swap advice and ideas with other moms who have babies the same age as yours.”

Children’s clothing : “Here We Grow Again is a consignment sale that happens in different locations around Olathe and Overland Park. It’s kind of like a giant garage sale that has everything from infant clothing to nursery decor. The clothes are gently used and look practically new. It’s perfect for parents on a tight budget.”

Fix-it guy : “Luke Winter, who runs Barlow Interiors, is a lifesaver. He’s basically an old-school handyman who can do pretty much anything around the house. You don’t see too many of those around these days. He works primarily in the Johnson County area, I think.”
