Who she is:
A board-certified licensed clinical therapist who specializes in relationship enhancement and human sexuality.
How long she’s done it:
In 2003, she and another therapist, George Turner, founded Turner Professional Group in Westport, turnerprofessionalgroup.com
Sexual challenges for millennials:
Meyers visits with men and women younger than decades-long married couples who want to spice up their between-the-sheets routine. “We see men and women in their 20s who are nervous about dating,” she said. Clients include closeted homosexual young adults, couples before they get married and new parents.
Comfortable setting:
No clothes come off during office visits. The purpose of therapy sessions is to talk, but that can be difficult because conversations are about such intimate details. Meyers and Turner recently expanded the office space and designed it to be more spa-like and soothing.
Horizontal-mambo myths:
Meyers sees couples who think they should perform like porn stars. “Two to five minutes is normal.” Or look like porn stars. “Body image affects both men and women.” Or climax together. “That’s luck.” Or blame the other part of the couple when he or she doesn’t come. “We’re each responsible for our own orgasm.” Which means communication beyond moaning and groaning is key.
