Neon Indian and Fun are among the more than eighty local, national and international acts scheduled to perform April 5 through 7 as part of Ink’s Middle of the Map Fest, Ink and local label Record Machine announced Wednesday morning.
Last year’s inaugural fest drew approximately 3,000 people and included roughly four dozen bands performing in four venues in Westport.
This year’s event will feature more bands and venues, plus several band reunions and a Tech, Art and Culture Forum.
The New York-based indie group Fun has toured with Jack’s Mannequin and recently had its song “We Are Young,” which features KCK’s Janelle Monae, covered on “Glee.”
Neon Indian, which performed at the RecordBar in October, will bring its groovy electronic dance music to the fest.
The festival also features local bands and bands with Kansas City-area ties such as Coalesce, the Life and Times, Capybara, Cowboy Indian Bear, Soft Reeds, Hospital Ships, Thee Water Moccasins, Spirit is the Spirit and Baby Teardrops.
Season to Risk, a popular Kansas City band that has rarely performed in the last 10 years, is one of the bands that will perform a reunion show. The Record Machine, Golden Sound Records and Indyground Entertainment will hold showcases during the fest.
One-day passes are $20 and a fest pass costs $35.
The Tech, Art and Culture Forum is scheduled for April 5 and 6 at OfficePort in the Crossroads Arts District, during which speakers and audience members will discuss trends. Tickets to the forum are $50. Passes to the forum and music fest are $75.
