Fashion Fix: Go from 100+ degrees to 65 with ease

Special to Ink

It’s hotter than 100 degrees when you leave for the office, so you throw on your sleeveless dress, feeling quite confident with your wardrobe choice. Unfortunately, an arctic blast of air greets you as soon as you walk in the building, and goose-bump arms are inevitable the rest of the day.

Here are a couple of creative ways to warm up your summer look — if walking outside is out of the question — and prepare for fall temps.

You have a great sleeveless dress, such as this sophisticated Phillip Lim number from Standard Style Boutique (Plaza, 451 W. 47th St.; One Nineteen in Leawood, 4573 W. 119th St.; standardstyle.com). It features a super-soft blend of viscose, Modal and cashmere trimmed with navy blue pin-tucked chiffon. At $750, it is an investment piece that you will want to get as much mileage out of as possible.

Option 1: Add a large colorful scarf that doubles as a wrap. Make sure it is wide enough to fully cover your arms. This gray, navy and lime striped scarf is an inexpensive choice to add pattern and warmth to your ensemble (Mossimo Supply Co scarf, $14.99, Target).

Option 2: Pick a lightweight cardigan in a color that will work with your autumn wardrobe. Plum is a smart hue that blends well with black, brown, navy and even brights. You’ll find this Mossimo sweater at Target for $19.99. To pull everything together and define your waist, add a fun skinny belt. This glitter version ($12.99 at Target) gives a nod to the 1980s trend for fall.
