Cherryh A. Butler

I am a fashion-obsessed fitness freak who actually gets paid to "go out" as the entertainment specialist for Ink. I also heart motivating and pushing clients as a personal trainer. (Check out my fitness blog, cherryh fit fetish)

You know what they say. "You can take the girl out of Lawson, but you can't take Lawson out of the girl." I think it goes something like that.

My inner small-town girl showed up Saturday at the Ink pool party wearing a cute bikini with a little dress over it. My husband, David, wore an Ink shirt and floral trunks. He looks adorable in them, BTW.

We rolled in, gave our names and headed downstairs to the pool. Luckily, David peered through the glass doors before we went outside. NO ONE was wearing swimming suits. Instead, they were in dresses and shirts worthy of Blonde.

My weekend started Thursday night as usual, but this time it was a movie premiere, Will Smith's, Hancock.

I thought it was pretty awesome and funny, but I'm no critic. If a movie entertains me, I like it. (Remember, I liked Indiana Jones) There were a few plot holes, but I don't waste time analyzing a superhero movie. It's not real no matter what, so who cares if you find an issue or two. Get over it.

I hit Quixotic Friday night after taking the day off work and hanging by the pool. Nice.

Women hit the Trendz Summer Splash sneak peek party last night at Terrace on The Green in Leawood to see the latest fashions. OMG, what a drive, but it was one-stop boutique shopping. No chain stores allowed, and I was in heaven.

Boutiques from the area have gathered in this space for a fun shopping event and to help out Hope House, a chairity that helps victims of domestic violence.

Girl Boutique, Sitzmark, Addie Rose, Posh, Grace & Style, Savvy, among others, brought inventory at a discounted rate.

I had to tell the hubby to get his own at the Mike & Charlie's Italian Restaurant menu tasting last night.

The new upscale dining establishment inside Harrah's Casino in the Northland is owned by Michael Garozzo of Garozzo’s Ristorante and Charlie Gitto of Charlie Gitto’s on The Hill in St. Louis.

Last night was all about indulging with 22 courses. (No typo - I meant twenty-two)

Maybe I got your pic!

I hung out at Ink Night at Standard Style on the plaza, enjoying foodage from ReVerse and discounts on cute stuff before hitting Maker's Mark for the Bacchus Foundation fundrasier, where I enjoyed even more scrumptious food and drinks. I capped off the night at Madrigall Martini Bar.

A typical Thursday night in the land of Cherryhville. Seriously, Thursdays around here are way more fun than Fridays!

My high point of the day? Getting BEAUTIFUL flowers in a giant martini glass delivered to my office. Awww, my husband is a real sweetie:)

My low point? Falling like a clumsy idiot and scraping up my arm and leg. I was jumping up on a 3-foot concrete bench during a workout, and I slipped and slammed into said bench. I fault my trainer, David Lea, who told me to quit whining like a beotch and finish my workout, which I did.

OK, so maybe he helped me up and gave me medicine and Band-Aids but whatev. Ouch. It burned, but I'm a badass. Yup!

On my meager Ink salary, it's safe to say I didn't bid on any items up for grabs last night at the The Man and Woman of the Year party and Auction at the Marriott Muelbach Hotel downtown. However, the money went toward a great cause, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

The party was the grand finale of a contest among 23 people vying for the titles of Man and Woman of the Year.

However, Todd Stover of Lockton Companies and Sandra Irving of Reece and Nichols, earned the honors by raising the most money over the eight-week contest period.

I never thought I'd have another chance to wear the feather boa I rocked for my 21st b-day party again, but I made it happen last night. Channeling creative energy from Ink's crafty reporter, Monica, I transformed the boa into a hair accessory. Awesome.

I fit in perfectly at Jazzoo, a fundraiser for the KC Zoo. Party goers arrived in limos and busses sporting animal prints and feathers in honor of the zoo animals. Comfort, however, was mandatory at the black-tie event. Men wore shorts with their tux jackets, while women chose flip flops over heels to go with their dresses. Fun! I guess you don't always "have to suffer to beautiful," as my grandma always says. Nice.

No black.

Ripped models rocked Mint's runway wearing swimwear designed by Cali Roberta last night. The suits were as hot as the models, and the crowd wasn't shy about sharing their approval. Men wooped at the women strutting down the runway. Umm, we are not in a strip club. It's a fashion show.

Anyway, my friend Nick and I both enjoyed the eye candy as well as the suits. We had a few drinks (2-for-1, nice) and watched NBC run casting calls for its new reality show, Momma's Boy."

Apparently, four bachelors will look for girlfriends with help from their mothers, who will live in a mansion with all the female contestants. Ryan Seacrest will host.
