Why is Will Smith ruining everything?

What else? Arrested Development movie, Batman suing Dark Knight, everyone is gymnastic fighting and more.

Take it from me, the Fresh Prince just doesn't understand.

Ok, first: I love(d) Will Smith. "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" and "Bad Boys 2" were critical to my development as a young man. Second: I realize that he's the highest-grossing actor working right now. The guy is guaranteed bank — especially on July 4. Having said all that: He tends to make fairly odd choices. (For all the "Ali's" and "Pursuit of Happyness" there was "Hitch" and "Hancock.")

None are odder than his proposed remake of Korean director Chan-wook Park's phenomenally creepy and awesome "Oldboy." Quick primer if you don't read this blog every day and haven't seen the movie: A man is imprisoned for 15 years, when he escapes he has to figure out exactly why that happened. Of course, it then plays out like a great Chuck Palahniuk novel. You laugh because it's funny. Then you laugh because it's uncomfortable and you don't know what else to do. Then you can't laugh anymore because all of the oxygen is sucked out of your lungs.

I don't care how good Steven Spielberg and Will Smith are. They can't remake this movie.

Now, that would be enough, right? He can't ruin another movie, can he?

Well, technically, he can't. But his son sure can. According to Variety: Jaden Smith to play the main character in a new version "The Karate Kid." Officially, Hollywood is out of ideas. Livid isn't a strong enough word. (Will Smith is a producer on the film.)
