UPDATE CITY: You can actually read the review online now.
Vol. 10 | Exploring the Bat-canon ... what to watch and what to avoid.
In just 2 days, the "Dark Knight" will be upon us. It isn't possible to be more excited about this movie. It just isn't. It's going to be like hitting a walk-off home run, losing your virginity and finding a fifty-dollar bill all rolled into one — for nerds. So, starting today, you could theoretically claim that I've gone bat-guano insane. Or, I've just been overcome with hype. Regardless, to span the time from this very moment that you are reading this to 12:01 a.m. on July 18th, I'll be exploring the good, the bad and the badass about the Batman. Enjoy.
I've been allowed to give you a two word review of the movie: Ohmyfreakingodthismovielivesuptothehypeandit'stotally awesome.
Update: I've actually be given clearance to put my review online. So, if you're interested in reading the world's only spoiler-free 'Dark Knight' review, then, be my guest and click this.
The movie is awesome.
Like this kind of awesome.
Or this kind.
Meanwhile, back in Gotham City...
Today, it's just a pile of links. I've got a rant chambered, but it might be a spoiler, so I'm gonna hang until the weekend for that one.
Are you not like me? Have you never before laid eyes on a Batman movie? That's hard to beileve, I know. But there are people out there.
There also are probably people out there who've said to themselves: "Another Batman movie?"
Well, the good news is I'm going to save you about 4 1/2 hours of your life by telling you that you can skip two Batman movies completely. Which two? Read this to find out.
Also, the good folks over at Trailer Addict have put the HBO: Closer Look at Dark Knight online for those without HBO. (And really, by now, how many people is that really? If you don't have HBO, you're missing out on Generation Kill. Which is awesome.) Here's Part 1 and here's Part 2.
Don't worry, no spoilers are in those vids. It's basically a look at how they filmed it and all that jazz.
Perhaps the most interesting thing I've read all day: Could "TDK" break $200 million this weekend?
Coming tomorrow: The cone of silence is lifted, I can talk about "TDK" ... and, um, I have a few nice things to say and I'll compare it to a cinematic masterpiece that stars William Fitchner and Henry Rollins. (Do you know the movie?) Now I've gotta come up with something else to write about tomorrow. Those of you playing at home... the movie in question was Heat.
