This is Artificial Tangent, a source of all things nerd and subversive. Mostly we'll talk movies, but music, television, The Highlander comic books and the collected works of Danielle Steel are all on the agenda.

I'm taking a long road trip today. So, I've got vehicles on my mind. And videos worth sharing with the world.

Day 4 | On the road again ... I just can't wait to get on the road again.

In just 8 days, the "Dark Knight" will be upon us. It isn't possible to be more excited about this movie. It just isn't. It's going to be like hitting a walk-off home run, losing your virginity and finding a fifty-dollar bill all rolled into one — for nerds. So, starting today, you could theoretically claim that I've gone bat-guano insane. Or, I've just been overcome with hype. Regardless, to span the time from this very moment that you are reading this to 12:01 a.m. on July 18th, I'll be exploring the good, the bad and the bad-ass about the Batman. Enjoy.

It's summer driving season. I guess. That's kind of a stupid little phrase. Don't you actually drive less on vacation? Sure you take that initial voyage. But, often that's to some place awesome where you just sit and stare at something.

Or maybe that's over-simplification.

But if summer driving season means road trips, then I'm down with it.

A road trip is supposed to be the very heart of the American Dream. Discovery. Brotherhood. Drinking. Tunes.

It's the core of our existence.

But with gas prices sure to keep us bent over the pump and taking it somewhere very uncomfortable (like the back of a Volkswagon), driving is exactly the opposite of what we want to be doing right now.

So, while I'm driving half-way across the country, I thought I'd share some videos while you're at home or in the comfort of your office not spending your precious PBR money on petrol.

And, what do you expect, I'm not bat-fatigued quite yet.

Oh, that? That's the Tumbler. You wouldn't be interested in that.

And you wouldn't be interested in the guys from the greatest show in the history of the world taking a gander at it.

Of course, I'd be in trouble with the uber-nerds and old-schoolers if I didn't least find something from the 60s.

I'm going to go ahead and just skip the rest. Because, well, it wasn't until the Tumbler came along that any of the modern Bat-movies had a cool car. Burton's car looked too much like a drill and the Schumacher cars were an abomination.

Oh, and get geeked for the Batpod. It was in KC last week. And it was at the Formula One track too.

Catch Up On the Comics: I'll let my better-informed friend Jason handle this one: "The Knightfall Saga: Sure, this was the clichéd “hero falls and rises again”, but it was brilliantly done. Have every Batman villain, major or minor, break out of Arkham and have Batman have to round them up, which only set him up for getting broken by Bane. Then have a darker, more violent Batman take over, only to have the old Batman return triumphantly. Sure, it went on too long, but it was worth it in the end." (Read more of Jason's Bat-knowledge on Saturday. Read more about the Knightfall Saga here.)

Bat-trivia: Unlike most characters in "Batman Begins," Rachel Dawes, played by Katie Holmes, doesn't exist in "Batman" or any other DC Comics' series. She was created by director Christopher Nolan and screenwriter David S. Goyer. And now she's gone. Thank god for Maggie.

Who's Line Is It — Porn or Batman? "I just wanted you to know how hard it was."

Quote This: "Tell the fat lady she's on in five." — Jim Carrey as The Riddler in "Batman Forever."

* Not porn. That's Lucius (damned spellcheck) Fox in "Batman Begins." Context isn't really important.

the BEST batmobile came from the animated series in the early to late nineties. remember that show? it was killer! check it! http://www.chickslovethecar.com/images/tas/tasbatmobile.jpg
I'm just going to assume that you mean LUCIUS Fox and that spelling Morgan Freeman's name as "Luscious" was just a bad mistake, not some kind of Freudian thing.
