There was a time in my life when Labor Day weekend marked the unofficial end of summer. Pools closed, school revved back up. It was a depressing time for anyone under the age of 18.
But once summer took on a different meaning (i.e., no more unhindered freedom), it started mattering less when it began and ended. Now, Labor Day weekend means an extra day off work and what I am declaring the unofficial start of autumn events season.
