Spaceman Africa. Bethany Frankenstein. Vanilla Dong.

No, these aren’t the names of missing members of Parliament, Funkadelic or another George Clinton band — they’re just names. That’s right: Someone legally named a child “Vanilla Dong.”

Fortunately for Vanilla and the rest of the crew, a place exists for bizarre names to be celebrated almost as much as they’re mocked. Name of the Year (nameoftheyear.blog spot.com) is a blog dedicated solely to weird names of buildings, people or whatever. And the site takes nominations, if you’re so inclined. It conducts an annual Name of the Year poll, which Spaceman Africa won in 2008.

The site is pretty clunky, with posts running in what appears to be a random, nonsensical order. And there’s not much to the site past the home page. Just remember that there’s someone on this earth named Chestnut Dragonwagon and Fonda Dicks, and those complaints will become null and void.
